Seven in a row for RED EVIE
10th September 2006
The remarkable Red Evie travelled from Newmarket to Leopardstown, the first time she has travelled beyond England, and just held on from the fast-finishing Peeress (Pivotal) to win the Gr.1 Matron Stakes. It must be mentioned that the runner-up was desperately unlucky, having been stopped in her tracks at the furlong marker, but full marks to the winner, who was scoring for the seventh consecutive time in eight races.
The daughter of Derrinstown Studs Intikhab had won a maiden, two handicaps and a conditions race by the end of May and has continued to progress, winning the Listed Sandringham Handicap at Royal Ascot in June and the Gr.3 Oak Tree Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. The Sun Chariot Stakes is likely to be her next race.
