The grey Dark Angel colt Markaz, is a very different sort of horse. A full brother to the dual Group 1 winning sprinter, Mecca’s Angel, his pedigree is shot through with pure speed and it’s therefore not surprising that sprinting proved to be his metier.

A winner over six furlongs at Ascot as a two-year-old, he never raced beyond seven furlongs, winning two Group races and being Group placed on six other occasions, including chasing home the multiple Group 1 winner Limato in the Group 2 Park Stakes at Doncaster. He has all the hallmarks of a commercial sire who will produce fast and precocious two-year-olds.
