Improving three-year-old sprinter Hoh Mike collected his first Group win when powering home in the Gr.3 Champagne Stakes at Sandown Park. Wi Dud (Elnadim) looked to have victory sewn up but the son of Intikhab came with a late thrust to win by half a length to give Derrinstown stallions a 1 2.

A good two-year-old, Hoh Mike has really developed this year and has won two Listed races already this season. However, his victories are tinged with sadness, as his joint owner David Allport died in October last year.
